Verify System Conditions Using EDMT

Verifying System Conditions for an Upgrade (Common Ground and Technology Refresh)

Run EDMT on your VM before the actual upgrade, to verify the following conditions:

  • Connections to the source and destination databases are available.

  • The collation value for the source and destination databases is:

    • Latin1_General_BIN (for western and European languages -English, French, Spanish, German, and so on).

    • Japanese_BIN (for Japanese)

    • Chinese_PRC_BIN (for Chinese)

    • Korean_Wansung_BIN (for Korean)

    The source and destination databases use the same collation value.

  • The operating system is Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Standard or Enterprise (64 bit) is installed.

Once these checks are made, the Are You Sure dialog box appears. Cancel if you are running EDMT only to perform these checks.
